Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and civil society, Dr. Hossam Badrawi attended today, Thursday, June 22, 2023, the launch event of the “Egyptian Governorates Competitiveness Index”. In the presence of all governors and the Minister of Local Government.
Dr. indicated. Hala Al-Saeed to the effort of d. Badrawi, as the initiator of the initiative through the National Competitiveness Council years ago.
This initiative, which was worked on by the Ministry of Planning and led by d. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning, networking efforts between state and civil society institutions, namely the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the Cabinet Information Center, and the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council.
I also thanked and appreciated Dr. Mona Al-Jarf, Professor of Economics, Dr. Ola Al-Khawaja, and Dr. Osama Al-Gohary.
It is worth noting that this index is the first competitiveness index for the Egyptian governorates, designed at the initiative of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers, and the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for the West. Asia (ESCWA) and the USAID Macroeconomic Reform and Stabilization Project. The index aims to increase productivity in the governorates, provide an attractive environment for investment, in addition to promoting comprehensive growth through regional integration, which contributes to enhancing competitiveness at the local level to achieve sustainable development. .
