6 women & Me
By : Hossam Badrawi
In March, Women’s Month, and Mother’s Day,
I am writing about six ladies around me, surely every reader has someone like them in his life.

The second lady:
She is every one of the mothers of this generation that we keep criticizing, and weeping about our time that has passed and gone for its own sake.
I see around me mothers who take care of their homes, provide for their families, work tirelessly morning and evening, spend, raise, converse, study, prepare food, clothes and scribes for each one of her family, go to her
children’s exercises and private lessons, and do her job at the same time to share in the house
expenses of her family. She is the one who conceives, gives birth, breastfeeds,
and stays up nights, day after day, hour after hour. She is herself, the same person that too often gets violated and becomes a victim of a patriarchal society that underestimates her.
Mothers of this generation are heroes in my opinion. The third lady
Is my daughter:

You may be surprised, dear reader, when I tell you that
she has become a role model for me.
It is usual for the father to be the ideal, and the
exception is what I convey to you.
All her life, I call her “My Happy Thoughts” because she is an optimistic,
smiling, beautiful person from inside out .
Then, at the age of twenty eight, she developed diabetes, type one . Within few months, the disease took her over and her body
became completely devoid of the insulin necessary for her life, activity and energy, with all what that disease
means of the need for an absolute change in the quality of life, continuous treatment, injections , measurements, and
changing the form and quality of food.

Suddenly my daughter, a mother of three, a wife, and a working woman, needed to reshape her life.

I saw her, with her youth, knowledge and freshness, enter a stage that she was not prepared for at all ,amid the responsibilities of her life that she takes seriously and with commitment.
She changed her life, with an iron will, and within few years she controlled
herself, her mind and body.
She did not stop teaching children, as she is a
distinguished teacher, and she does that while
accompanying her
daughters and encouraging them to exercise with her, goes with them to their physical training, and music lessons, shares every moment in their lives, and attends every activity in their school.

She reads with them and for them, and fills her family’s life with joy and pleasure.
I Look at her and say how proud I am , how much I appreciate what she is doing from the moment she starts her day at six in the morning with her daughters , goes to work and practice her activities and her life while carrying the burdens of the evil diabetes, to measure , analyze her blood by herself and control her food standards.

And because she is a beautiful human being, she
devoted part of her efforts to support children with diabetes and to support their families , teach them to prevent future
consequences of this catastrophic disease .
I Look at her and say this is a woman who deserves to be a role model and I believe there r young people like her in society. She neither neglected nor collapsed, but faced
challenge with a smile, and won with will.

No one around her feels what she is really going through, and she does not let any of her family
members carry her
concerns, or moments of grief or fear she must have passed or is going through. .
Why am I writing about Dalia ?? !!.
I write because everywhere there is a young woman like
her. The rate of diabetes in Egypt is very high, and I see its complications in
patients every day.

There are thousands like my daughter and they have to take their lives in their own hands, so that they do not despair, and do not give up, but know that will, knowledge and seriousness makes of them heroes, role models and examples. My daughter.. and every mother like her, you are
ladies who deserve pride and appreciation.
The fourth lady is my wife: Every mother loves her children, protects them, has compassion , and gives them without waiting for a response , or recognition of a favor, which is what makes the mother a
mother. But my wife
wrapped her motherhood in friendship with her
children , without
pretension or pressure, being present in their lives
with their desire, happiness and longing.

The first thing that comes to their minds & me
included after a working day or at the end of an interview or a happy or painful event, is to call her and hear her voice,
because she is safety without words, a corner of comfort and reassurance without fuss, and the space for freedom for them to express themselves without
fear or pain or being judgmental.

I tell her, as a life witness, that this is her best
achievements in life, because she brought them up to be straight, upright in their lives, beautiful in their behavior, and virtuous and rational in their relations with others, all this is a result of her continuous and uninterrupted love that formed their conscience ,
and the tenderness in their hearts , which gave both of them the opportunity to show the best in them.

Then when our
grandchildren came as birds singing in the sky of our lives, giving us a kind and fragrance of happiness that we did not know before, She became this extraordinary grandmother with tenderness,
knowledge, presence and
responsibility, without excessive interference, but with sweeping love and abundant feelings that put a new priority in our lives.
From a father and a
husband who is aware of her role in his life and the lives of his children, who knows that a large part of
God’s grace upon him with the love of his children goes back to a mother who planted in them everything beautiful towards him, and
deepens in their
conscience the utmost respect for him .
I love , thank , respect and appreciate you .
The fifth lady is my lady friend:
…..
A wise friend who is close and a great support . Friendship with a woman has a great value, if you know.

I’ll tell you why??
It is true that friendship in general is all about love and peace of mind, but the beauty of friendship with a woman is that there is no blame , and there is no need to justify an act , or an absence.

Friendship with a woman gets rid of the pressures of marriage, and it is possible to partner in it, and it does not require pleasing your friend, but rather being as you are& who u are.

In friendship, time is
relative. Years may pass and you meet your friend as if it were yesterday, there is no blame or admonition.
In friendship there is joy without cost, support without price, trust that is not tested in every
snapshot , and love that does not take an exam because it does not need a certificate to prove it.
Whoever has a woman as a friend , let him enjoy her friendship and its joy, the comfort and permanence of friendship, and its freedom with purity , and respect for its limits.
The Sixth Lady is my sister:
She is the strongest most supportive sister that conforms of a thousand men.
And when the sister is affectionate, friend and passionate, as is the case
with my sister, God has blessed me , and given me a temporal bond, add to this , she is also a scholar, brilliant physician who takes care of the mother, brothers, children,
grandchildren and husband. In every moment and in every place.
No one in the family has an influence like hers, nor a presence like her presence. Not just for her little family, but for all of our children and grandchildren.
She is always present, influencing all the time, treating with wisdom and caring with passion . She is the first person that comes to the mind of every mother in the family at the moment of need , or fear for the children. She is pivot of support , not only for the skill of knowledge she has , but for the peace of heart when she is around.
The strange thing is that every child who grows up, she remains being his/her
doctor , regardless of their height, age and weight.
This is my sister, my first friend and patron through the years.. What a woman worth of a thousand men. The First Lady of the six , This one of the six is the most beloved, the dearest, and closest to my mind, my soul, and my heart… She is my mother.

How could this mother be this dreamy music in our
lives without noise, and without ever asking any of us for anything.

She is the source of love, affection, joy, and
commitment to all the family.
How could she, without interfering in the affairs of any of us, be an active part in the lives of each of us?
How she made her love for our father, may God have
mercy on him, a model for every wife in the family.
How, without request or question, made us gather around her and made it fun, joyful and safe.
This is my beautiful mother, the most beautiful in the family.

Her elegance, beauty and smile is remarkable.
I love you mom….
I love the message of calm and tolerance and
acceptance you spread between us without effort.
I love the patience and the love that you give,
I love that you have
accommodated us through the years, with no
complaints or whines.
You, my mother, were and still is the inspiration of our hearts , the best thing in our lives.
And every year you are among us,
around us, you
Shine your light sustainably, with a gesture, or even with a smile.

I am not writing poetry in my mother now, I am only describing what is in her as it is, and my words do not live up to her truth.

We go on a pilgrimage to her , without invitation , without blame , or reproach for those who are late or who do not come.

Six examples of super women, in my life and I believe every one can find one of them or more in his life.
