Dr. Hossam Badrawy participates in a discussion organized by the International Monetary Fund and the Egyptian authorities

At the invitation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dr. participated. Hossam Badrawi, representing civil society, in a panel discussion on “Implementing the Marrakesh Call for Action – Policy Priorities for Building Resilience and Supporting Economic Transformation in the Middle East and North Africa Region,” organized by the International Monetary Fund and the Egyptian authorities.

The Marrakesh Initiative is summed up by the Director-General of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, issuing a call to action during the annual Marrakesh meetings for the year 2023 to reach a new social contract to bridge the gap between the growth models of the past and the growth engines of the future. The Call to Action highlighted the need for progress in five key areas: (a) strengthening a vibrant private sector; (b) Reform of social protection systems; (c) Providing opportunities for young people; (d) Reducing obstacles that prevent women from participating in economic life; and (e) making green investment an engine of growth and job creation. This event will kick off the IMF’s engagement with stakeholders in the MENA region on how to promote inclusive and sustainable growth and make the call to action a reality.
