His Excellency pointed out the importance of taking care of the midwife, who is the nurse specialized in taking care of the pregnant woman during natural childbirth, and her vital role in the Egyptian countryside, while laying the foundations for her training and the system for accrediting her certificate and licensing.
Dr. Abla Al-Alfi, a member of the House of Representatives, confirmed that the workshop aims to come up with comprehensive recommendations and policies that work to reduce the rates of unnecessary caesarean sections in Egypt by applying a comprehensive approach that includes training doctors, nursing, natural birth aids and family counseling providers in the community and raising community awareness, especially pregnant women. The danger of unnecessary caesarean sections and its negative effects on the mother and the child. This comes in line with the state’s plan for the development of the family and early childhood and in implementation of the presidential initiative New Day, which cares for premature babies and newborns, with a focus on the importance of the first thousand days in a child’s life.
It is worth noting that the round table includes a number of leaders of the Ministry of Health and international bodies, professors of obstetrics and gynecology and children from universities and civil society institutions, in addition to a number of gentlemen and members of the Health Committee of the House of Representatives to codify the legislative and very important aspect of eliminating this epidemic that destroys the health of the Egyptian people.
