Today, May 9, 2023, at the Conrad Cairo Hotel, Dr. Hossam Badrawi, the spiritual father of the National Competitiveness Council, attended the blended finance conference, which was prepared by the Council on comprehensive development opportunities in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa.
The conference included a group of specialized personalities to address the challenges facing development in Egypt and the role of blended finance and its impact on trade, investment and development in general in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa.
The conference was opened by Mr. Seif Allah Fahmy (Chairman of the Board of Directors and founding member of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council) with an introduction and preface, then followed by the keynote speech in the conference by Dr. Hossam Badrawi, which came about the efforts of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council and the most important projects presented by the Council and its future vision of the expected efforts in the next stage
Dr. Hossam’s speech was followed by an important speech by Dr. Ziyad Bahaa El-Din (Egyptian lawyer and expert in financial law for investment and corporate laws) about opportunities for development and investment and improving some conditions, which represent major drivers of development, on top of which is the stability of legislation. He also made it clear during his speech that he does not mind the state being a competitor in the economy. Provided that fair competition is available to everyone, as competition is unfair and harms development
Then Dr. Jim Winkler (Vice President and Senior Director of the Creative Organization for Economic Growth) gave a speech in which he explained that blended financing can be the biggest influencer in moving the wheel of development and creating job opportunities, and finally the speech of Mr. / Charles Pollitt (Financial Advisor at the Trade and Investment Center in West Africa), where he gave Evidence-based blended finance models and their impacts
As for the second part of the conference, it included a group of discussions on the podium on the subject of the conference. The conference ended in an atmosphere of general approval from the attendees for the conference results.
