Today, Prof. Hossam Badrawi participated in the African Economic Summit 2022, held in Cairo, in the presence of a large number of African politicians, media professionals, businessmen and youth to discuss ways of cooperation between the countries of the African continent and facing the challenges facing the continent.
Dr. Badrawi led an important session at the conference entitled “Investing in Education in Africa…Is what is being done in African countries enough?”
The platform was led by Dr. Hossam from Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, President of the British University, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shennawi, Vice President of Galala University, Dr. Salama Al Bakri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Education First Foundation and the New Generation Schools Foundation, Dr. Mahmoud Hamza, Professor at Alexandria University and Executive Director of the Education First Foundation and the Ebhar Misr project to discover talents among students in Egypt.
The session discussed the opportunities and challenges facing the development of education in Egypt and the African continent, especially after the technological development that made the educational process cross borders.
During the session, Dr. Badrawi raised the following topics and asked the participants in the session to answer them
How do we facilitate the transfer of expertise, the free movement of students and professors across borders between African countries, and make educational programs readable between the countries of the continent
Cross border mobility and readability of higher education human resources and systems
2- Studying the possibility of establishing an accreditation and feasibility guarantee institution at the African level
Pan African Quality assurance
3- Establishment of an African institution to finance joint scientific research on the continent
Creation of Pan African fund for cross borders research activities
4- Studying the possibility of working to unify the standards of technology studies, science and mathematics in pre-university education and push investment in technology infrastructure
Working for cross border standards of science, technology and Math curricula
5- The expected economic effects of bringing about an educational renaissance in Africa and learning from the experiences of each country
The economic impact of revolutionizing education systems in Africa
6- The necessity of exchanging information and identifying the opportunities available to the countries of the continent
The importance of exchange of knowledge and data and exploring opportunities in the continent
7- Studying a proposal to establish an African institution to discover talents in schools and universities and the possibility of student exchange, and to put the Egyptian experience in education first on this subject.
Studying the possibility of creating a Pan African initiative to discover gifted students and opening for them opportunities to travel cross borders and gain experiences.
At the end of the session, Dr. Hossam opened the door to hear the attendees and express their ideas, especially the African youth

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
