Dr. Badrawi chairs the consultative meeting on developing manpower skills

On the initiative of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council and at the invitation of the Federation of Industries, Professor Hossam Badrawi, Honorary President of the National Competitiveness Council, chaired today the consultative session on “Developing manpower skills and increasing productivity through the expansion of dual education” today, Thursday, at the headquarters of the Federation of Egyptian Industries
The initiative is very important because Egypt’s low ranking in global competitiveness has many causes, but the low skills of Egyptian workers are among the most important reasons.
For years, Hossam has been striving to raise the level of technical education and vocational training as part of the development of education in general.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Azim, CEO of the Federation of Egyptian Industries and Chairman of the Advisory Committee, who hosts the Committee, Mrs. Manal Maher, Member of Parliament and the Human Rights Committee, and Professor Joseph Ghanem, Director of the WISE Project
Dr. Mohamed El-Fateh, former Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education at Beni Suef University, made a presentation for the position paper entitled “Developing manpower skills and increasing productivity through the expansion of dual education”, which was assigned to him by the Competitiveness Council.
The objective of the meeting was to present a position paper on the dual education system in Egypt in accordance with the recommendations of the study prepared by the National Competitiveness Council on “Work skills, economic productivity, and human resource management” and to suggest appropriate steps and solutions to put them into practice.
The National Competitiveness Council was established in 2005 as an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit institution that seeks to support the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy under the slogan “A better Egyptian for a better Egypt”. With the best Egyptian and international experiences, and to suggest appropriate recommendations for the Egyptian situation
The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdel Hakim Hussein, Director of Human Resources at Americana Group, Zakaria Rajab Attia, Director General of the National Center for Human Resources Development, Dr. Mohamed Fouad Al-Fateh, expert in technical education, Dr. Rasha Abdel Hakim, chief economist at the American Group, and Mr. Mohamed Fawzy Hussein, deputy director of the WISE project. Dr. Seif Fahmy, Chairman of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council, Dr. El-Sayed Turki, WISE Project Adviser, Dr. Wael El-Saeed, Director of the Central Unit for Guidance, Guidance and Employment in the MOETE Project, Dr. Amr El-Demerdash, Director of Research and Development at Technical Education, Mr. Mahmoud Abdel-Latif Abu Zeid, Director General of Dual Education at the Ministry of Education Mr. Salem El-Sayed Ibrahim, General Supervisor of El-Araby School for Applied Technology at El-Araby Group of Companies, Mr. Muhammad Muhammad Jadallah, Director of the Planning and Policies Department in the General Administration of Dual Education, Hisham Salah El-Din Abdel-Moneim, Head of the Administrative Sector of Giza Spinning and Weaving Company, Mr. Moamen Abdel-Moneim Saad, Director of Human Resources at Arb Company Al-Alameya Readymade Garments, Mr. Doaa Hussein Al-Sayed Ahmed, Director of Social Responsibility at Arb Al-Alimah Readymade Garments Company, Safwat Salah Nawar, Head of the Corporate Unit Focus on facilitating the transition to the labor market in the technical education sector.

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
