Dr. Badrawi participates in a ceremony honoring the great director Daoud Abdel Sayed

Al-Masry School of Arts honors the great director Daoud Abdel Sayed and presents him with the “Al-Masry Creativity” award, in the presence of Dr. Hossam Badrawi, at the kind invitation of Professor Farid Zahran. His distinguished works and contributions to the formation of Egyptian consciousness. Dr. Badrawi gave a speech to greet the respected director and talked about his impact and admiration for his works and how every time he sees his work he finds something new that deserves contemplation and discovery. Dr. Hossam said that he is not a friend of Professor David and only knows him from his works, and he came to the party in support of the beautiful art and that he accepted the invitation of the professor Farid Zahran tells Professor Daoud that as a spectator he loves art and knows its value, salutes him and thanks him for the fine art he presents, in which his personality appears, but it opens up horizons for the spectator to think. The celebration was attended by the journalist writer Karima, his wife, a number of his friends and students, in addition to Farid Zahran, head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, Bassem Kamel, its first deputy, a number of party leaders, leaders and members of the Al-Masry School of Arts, and a number of public figures and intellectuals. The media, Reham Salem, presented the ceremony and gave the first word to Farid Zahran, who welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance and role of art and culture in the life, mind and conscience of Egyptians. A video was shown about the work of the great director, situations from his life and the awards he received, prepared by Khaled Ezz El-Din, a leader in the party. Karima Kamal also spoke about Daoud Abdel Sayed as a husband and a person, about their journey together, and the moments of victory and failure that they experienced. Rageh Daoud, the composer, also talked about the works he collected with Professor Daoud, and how the music he put in the works of the great director differed from his music in other works because of Daoud’s sincerity, dedication and keenness to produce the work in the best way. Al-Sayyid and his vision in which he uniquely combined the entirety of poetry and plastic arts to the cinema, declaring that he considers himself lucky because he lived in a moment in which there was a director of the stature and weight of David Abdel-Sayed. Onsi Abu Seif, the interior designer, emphasized the professorship of Mr. Daoud and its impact on everyone who worked with him, and explained how his works can be understood at different levels depending on the culture of the recipient. Osama Al-Abd, the executive director, who participated in a number of the great director’s works, confirmed this idea, saying: “We are fortunate to have been taught by Mr. Daoud. The great director spoke and thanked everyone, saying that he does not consider himself a philosopher or a wise man and that he does what he believes in, without being forced by him. Circumstances led to accepting work just to get a living, as art was never a craft or a job that he performs, but it is a means by which he expresses what he sees and believes in. The great director praised Dr. Hossam Badrawi’s word because it is a word from a neutral person who does not speak out of previous knowledge or friendship, but scenes affected And this is the real honor that any artist is waiting for.At the end of the ceremony, Professor Farid Zahran handed over the “Al-Masry Creativity” award to the great director, an award given by the Al-Masry School of Art, which operates under the umbrella of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party.

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
