Dr. Badrawi’s interview with Youm 7

Hossam Badrawi in a history interview on the June 30 revolution: I did not doubt the military institution’s standing with the people… The truth is that the justice institution, the police and the media respected the will of the Egyptians at the time
Al-Youm Al-Sabea TV published the fourth episode of the “History” program to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the June 30 revolution. This program monitors the testimonies of the most important personalities participating in the revolution in various fields. The program is presented by the two colleagues, Tamer Ismail and Muhammad Abu Laila, and it is prepared by colleague Huda Abu Bakr and colleague Mahmoud Nasr.
In this episode, Abu Laila hosted Dr. Hossam Badrawi, the great political thinker, who confirmed that before June 30, an ambassador of a foreign country came to him offering him cooperation with the Brotherhood in an attempt to convince the Brotherhood to cooperate with the political community, saying: I came to the ambassador of a foreign country to feel my pulse if the Brotherhood offered me I entered the ministry and told him I would not accept because this is completely against your political orientation, and the Brotherhood was foolish to see that all matters are in their hands.”
He added: I had no doubt about the army’s standing with the people in the June 30 revolution, just as the military institution is a united institution and has always stood by the people, and the speech of ousted President Morsi was all a threat to society with a civil war.
+ Anyone who does not respect the will of the people is destined to disappear.
June 30+ was a revolution with a specific time and place, and the regime could not stop it
The media did not fail to show the citizens’ anger at the incompetence of the country’s administration, and it deserves to be hated off
He had a major role before June 30 in shaping people’s consciousness, and there was a space of freedom that successive events did not give the Brotherhood the opportunity and time to stifle, but it would have inevitably been stifled if June 30 had passed without overthrowing them.
*Because it is not good in any system of government that there is no other opinion, there must be freedom to criticize with the aim of building and not demolishing, the One Voice media will definitely push people to search for other sources, which misphrase the media message to create an atmosphere of negativity, so the best thing For the people and the system of government, there is a degree of transparency and frankness, because withholding information will push people to search for it in other places, or to express itself underground.
+ The Egyptian genes are enlightened genes. Among all the Arab countries, Egypt is the only country, in which 16 to 18 million Christians live, and there is diversity in form and dialects. We are a multi-community within one framework, and this is what distinguishes Egypt from Others, and whoever does not see the Egyptian society’s respect for pluralism, is blindfolded.

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
