Dr. Hossam attends the celebration of the International Day of University Theater

Dr. Hossam Badrawy attended yesterday, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the celebration of the International Day of University Theater, which was held in cooperation between the Egyptian Opera House – the General Administration of Cultural and Intellectual Activity and the Cairo International Forum for University Theater at the Arab Music Institute. The celebration witnessed singing performances presented by the artist Aya Shousha, then a recorded performance by a group From the words of the artists who participated in the forum’s previous sessions, where they offered their congratulations to the forum and the effort made by the work team. Then the ceremony witnessed dialogues between the symbols of the forum, which began with Dr. Badrawi, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Cairo International Forum for University Theater, and his question about the secret of his achievement of youth, where his answer was that he always feels young. Within him, the youth are the ones who provide him with positive energy and motivate him to know the new and provide him with life. He believes in them and benefits from them, learning about them and how they think. He added that he loves to see roses blooming and beauty appearing, and the youth are the most beautiful things in Egypt. When asked by Dr. Badrawi about his vision for the future of the International Theater Forum University and about its impact, his answer was that this forum is a purely youth effort, non-profit, and the state’s intervention in it is simple. He praised the director Amr Kabil and his team for the effort they made, adding that the impact must extend and expand, and this only comes with media attention. He hopes that the forum will gain some degree of attention. Media attention in the coming period in order to enhance this and extend the impact of this success to society as a whole. The dialogue was then continued with the distinguished artist Azza Labib, where she talked about part of her career in the theater of the late distinguished comedian Fouad Al-Muhandis and the distinguished artist Mohamed Sobhi and her experience in the children’s theatre, then a dialogue with The student, Muhammad Issa, won first place in the university theater competition. During the dialogue, he presented an interlude of poetry that was well received by the attendees. The dialogue then moved to the student, Omar Mamoun, during which he presented a stand-up comedy segment that added happiness and laughter to the attendees, and finally, the artist Samar Saeed, who praised the effort made, then The distinguished writer Fatima Naout took the stage and delivered a speech in which she expressed the role of university theater in elevating taste and thought. She praised the role of the forum in supporting university theater and art. She also praised Dr. Hossam Badrawi and the effort he is making to advance his idea and his constant support for what is good for this country.
The ceremony ended with happiness, joy, and approval from everyone, and the attendees exchanged souvenir snapshots with Dr. Badrawi, and words expressing their appreciation and gratitude to him for his contributions to the nation.

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
