Today, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Cairo Marriott Hotel, Dr. Hossam Badrawy, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Education First Foundation and President of the Nile Badrawy Foundation for Education and Development, attended the annual conference organized by the Education First Foundation, under the auspices of balanced education in cooperation with the University of Florida, under the title Similarities and differences between the education system The British and American education system in Egypt, as well as a review of all the activities carried out by the institutions and what was accomplished last year.
Dr. Hossam Badrawy’s speech during the opening session was as follows: – The vision must have an application and clear features, expressing that Egypt’s vision in education must be known to everyone so that we can achieve it, indicating that he took it upon himself to publish Egypt’s Vision 2030, then presented Dr. Badrawi told the attendees that the vision begins with availability, quality, and non-discrimination, then manages the educational process and moves towards decentralization, with the school and university being the essence of education with balanced management, then the digital axis, which means that digital should be a way of life for obtaining information, consulting with others, and research, and not just a device. He stressed that our youth are fully prepared for this and what they need is training, and the fourth axis is building a healthy personality that respects the history of its country and aspires to a better future, has hope and accepts difference and can create the future, and finally competitiveness and increasing it. Then he pointed out that Dr. Salma Bakri and Dr. Mahmoud Hamzah was indeed able to achieve the vision within the institution and asked everyone to congratulate them for their efforts. Then he expressed that Dr. Salma Al-Bakri was not satisfied with only the framework of civil society work, but rather integrated public work with the private sector, stressing that the reality of the private sector is that it is the foundation of civil society and from which initiatives emerge. And the existence of an integrated relationship between the British system and the American system in education and “Pearson” and “Inovera” will not happen unless the person in charge of that is someone who has understanding and possesses the complete vision and whose input for that is the human being, indicating that he and Dr. Salma Bakri were developing strategic visions, but The practical application for which the credit was given goes to Dr. Mahmoud Hamza, praising the wonderful effort he made, his performance, and his humility. He also thanked all those responsible for education first, then Dr. Badrawi moved on to the wealth that Egypt possesses, especially since it possesses 60% youth, which if they were invested and trained Egypt would have become a great country among countries, and the audience called for pride in our beloved country, Egypt. Dr. Badrawi ended his speech by thanking the attendees who responded to Dr. Badrawy’s speech with applause and gratitude.
The conference began with the opening speech delivered by Dr. Salma Bakri, President of the Education First Foundation, in which she praised the efforts made and the achievements that have been achieved. Dr. Salma Bakri also praised Aston University, New Generation Schools, and Al-Suwaidi Schools of Technology. She also shed light on the food industry schools affiliated with the National Bank, and the wood industry schools. affiliated with the Bank of Egypt and the Renewable Energy Schools affiliated with the Abu Bakr Foundation. Dr. Salma Bakri then invited Ambassador Nabila Makram to honor her and present her with the Balanced Award.
The Ambassador expressed her sincere gratitude and praised Dr. Salma Bakri for her efforts, noting that the Education First Foundation places the psychological and mental health of the child among its top concerns, stressing that exam results alone are not sufficient to necessarily express the student’s goodness and competence, as psychological building is extremely important, as she expressed. The Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the protocol that was signed between the Fahim Foundation and Education First, stressing that it is a good and promising step.
Then, Dr. Robert Shockley, a board member and professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology at Florida Athletic University, stated that one of the most important things that distinguishes one education system from another is not only the curriculum and the method of teaching, but also philosophy and timing, expressing that each educational system, whether American or British, has its own character.
Dr. Mahmoud El-Deeb, CEO of Innovera, also stressed the importance of collecting and analyzing data, which has become more important today than before. He also pointed out that today we need to keep pace with the movement of progress in distance education and the use of augmented reality as well as artificial intelligence, adding that artificial intelligence is much more Than just ChatGpt.
Then a video was shown of the activity of the Balanced Education Foundation and Education First, and models of their affiliated schools, and what the Education First Foundation went through while training teachers and principals in the most difficult circumstances, especially in the Covid-19 crisis.
Then Mr. Fakhar Jeffrey, Director of Examinations at the British University, took the podium, who stressed the necessity of changing the format of exams and using all modern means to keep pace with the developments taking place at the present time.
Ms. Mia Al-Haddad, Country Director for Egypt and North Africa, also confirmed to the Cambridge University newspaper that the differences are in the way of thinking and the formation of social and cultural capabilities and skills, and not only in the curricula.
Then Mrs. Catherine Booth, Regional Director of the Pearson Foundation, confirmed that in order for students to be able to benefit from the data of technological progress, we must work to develop their capabilities for the self-development of their skills and abilities, as well as their ability for self-research.
During the opening session, musical performances were presented by Heidi Jalal and Osama Khaled, which received everyone’s approval and admiration. The meeting ended in an atmosphere full of joy and approval, with attendees exchanging memorial shots with Dr. Badrawi, accompanied by expressions of great love and appreciation.
