Dr. “Hossam Badrawi” is one of the famous personalities in the Egyptian society, and his name was strongly mentioned on social media because of the bold speech he delivered last week at the opening of the national dialogue, and it resonated with the public opinion.
This doctor is unconventional and has multiple activities. I have known him for a very long time, and I conducted many press interviews with him.
The beginning of my acquaintance with him dates back to 1995, meaning 28 years ago, when we ran as independents for the People’s Assembly elections.
Unfortunately, we encountered various troubles, and believe it or not, the writer of these lines was arrested three times in one month because of my electoral campaigns, under the pretext that they were conducted without a license!!
Hours later, I was released after the intervention of the Journalists Syndicate. As for all those who were arrested in these rounds, they were referred to the State Security Prosecution.
And my friend, Dr. Hossam Badrawi, had better luck than me, as he was not arrested, as happened to me, although he was subjected to many harassments, and miraculously managed to go through a repeat round!
Before it begins, you will receive advice from the security forces.
and this is what actually happened!!
I return to the core of my topic, which is represented by the title of the article. My relationship with him became stronger because we met and got to know each other in unconventional circumstances.. In one of my conversations with him, I asked him about his life partner.
I saw a big smile on his face and he started talking to me saying..
Her name is Munira, her name is aptly named.
lighted my life path..
He describes it:
She is my wife, my lover, my friend, and the confidant of my secrets. She has a very important role in my life since we got married in 1976. Her brother, Suleiman, is a lifetime friend, and he was my classmate at the Al-Arroman school. Through him, I got to know the family. Her mother I saw as a great lady, and her father, although he was very serious. By virtue of his work, he is full of emotions and romance, and he is a politician with a vision, and from his experience I was sure that democracy emanates from the people, and does not come from the top!!
Dr. Hossam Badrawi goes back to talking about his wife, confirming what he said about her: “Munira” really enlightened my path, and I would have stayed in “America” had it not been for her insisting on returning to “Egypt” because she believed that my future was in my country, and not with “Uncle Sam.” And I had received very tempting offers to work in America, but my wife kept me from her, and she encourages me in the many social and educational activities that I am doing so far.
I asked him: And jealousy, Mr.. What’s up with her?? Especially since you are a handsome and successful person, and by virtue of your work, you mix with beauties!!
He laughed, saying: I rest assured.. that she is very confident of herself, and she is right, and she has confidence in my person.
I interrupted him laughing: And she is right too!
And his life partner, Munira, who enlightened his path, gave birth to him a son and a girl like the good “Hassan” after his grandfather’s name, and “Dalia.” He describes her as a wonderful person who is different from others and has multiple activities.
As for “Hassan” – the Crown Prince – he completed his studies and majored in economics and political science, where he graduated from “Duke” University in America.
I asked his father: Didn’t you dream of your son graduating as a doctor like you?
He answered me: No.. He is a bright and intelligent young man, and I left him complete freedom in choosing his studies, and his specialization in economics is very important in our contemporary world, and he currently resides in “London” and occupies a prestigious position in one of the major companies!
And the most beautiful thing in Dr. Siddiqui’s life is his grandchildren, and the most beautiful times he spends with them and forgetting the whole world, and the last of them is a new grandson from his son, “Hassan”. And every person who has grandchildren knows exactly how sweet they are and the great love for them.

The title of my article may surprise and confuse you and wonder what it means!?
The answer is a lesson drawn from the life of my friend, Dr. Hossam Badrawi.
He was deeply disappointed after the result of the medical final exam appeared, because of his failure in the specialization test that he had hoped for since entering the college, and he had to look for another specialty, and he was so upset that he thought of immigrating to “America”..
But our Lord is great, so He chose for him his current specialty, which he loved and excelled in quickly.
The lesson learned: Don’t get upset about something you wished for and didn’t get, for fate may choose for you what is better and better..
And this is exactly what happened to my friend, the famous doctor, who surprised me by saying: Very good, less than required!!
In summary of what he said: he wanted to be a surgeon, then specialize in plastic surgery, but in the final exams he got distinction in all subjects except for the one he wanted to specialize in, as his grade was only very good!! the whole country as long as he cannot work in beauticianship, and indeed he sent his papers to “America” and sat waiting, and during this period he started working in the field of obstetrics and gynecology until he was accepted there, and he loved this specialty, and when the approval came to him from one of the major universities in the state of California” in “America” he had changed his mind, and decided to continue his work and studies in the new field in which he found himself.
Our guest doctor commented on this incident, saying: Oh, Glory be to God, if I had obtained excellence in surgery as I expected, my life would have changed completely, and thanks to a very good appreciation that made me specialize in obstetrics and gynecology, and so you want something, but God, the All-Knowing, the All-Aware, wants something for you. Another is better than it, and in all cases you must have a strong will to follow what heaven decides for you in terms of livelihood in this world.

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
