A group of young men met me, marveling at my continued optimism and my positive outlook on things.
“Doctor,” said one of them, “we are perplexed; how do you see everything so beautiful? How do you keep your smile in the darkest of times?”
I told them: I will focus my answer on the entrance to beauty, and its impact on human happiness.
If you understand the philosophy of beauty and learn how to extract it from everything around you; You will be happier and more cheerful. Every happy person will release positive energy around him, and the energy will be transformed into action and achievement.
Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that deals with the study and analysis of beauty, art, and human creations, as well as identifying the characteristics of beauty and the criteria for measuring and evaluating it. The philosophy of beauty, its main theme, is to examine the factors and influences that contribute to the formation of human aesthetic awareness. This awareness cannot be considered as an automatic awareness or a direct and innate intuition. Rather, aesthetic awareness needs to be nurtured and nurtured because it is not the fruit of our natural and direct perceptions that are formed in our automatic and spontaneous contact with the world.
It is true that we have the ability to be fascinated by some natural scenes, such as the beauty of a rose, a tree, or others. However, these natural scenes do not turn into aesthetic values unless they are transformed into works of art, and into masterpieces that extract them from the raw assets of nature, give them life, and add value to them from the vision of an artist.
I have used artificial intelligence platforms, and I am rewriting this article and sharing with you some definitions that GPT sent me, with the aim of increasing knowledge on the one hand, and with the aim of motivating you to use this intelligence when preparing your research and writings.
The artificial intelligence, when asked about beauty, told me that art is human expression that uses many creative means and methods to express beauty.
And the interest in beauty is the interest in beauty for the sake of beauty without any objectivity, while taste is the ability to evaluate and distinguish beauty. And that the aesthetic function is the ability to produce beauty through art in its various forms, architecture, design or decoration.
On the other hand, creativity is the ability to produce original artistic and aesthetic works. He added that natural beauty is the beauty that is embodied in nature and landscapes, while artificial beauty is the beauty that man produces through art and technology.
Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten is the German philosopher, who introduced the term “aesthetics” to describe human studies to define the beautiful in modern philosophy.
The German philosopher Immanuel Kant concluded that the aesthetic experience is not due to the theoretical activity carried out by the mind, which defines the conditions of knowledge in mathematical sciences and physics, or the rational activity that determines moral behavior based on the will, but it is due to the feeling of pleasure that is based on play Freedom between imagination and mind.
Simply, my children, beauty is a distinctive feature of this existence, which is manifested everywhere, and it is a kind of order, harmony, and harmony with countless manifestations and manifestations. Most of the time, this represents two different degrees of human capabilities: the ability to sense beauty, and the ability to express it.
And because the sense of external and internal beauty is a cognitive realization; it can be learned. As for the other ability of man, which expresses, shows and shows beauty, it is the ability that the artist enjoys. A photographer, writer, or other person with different artistic abilities. And since science and experience have also proven that there is a lot of knowledge and skills that a person can learn, especially at a young age, that enable him to increase his abilities in expressing beauty, every person is an artist to a degree, and uniqueness in art remains for the special talents in which a person is unique. about the other.
Likewise, the general feeling of beauty and its manifestations may be affected by the culture of groups of people in a place, and affect the conscience of the individual. For as long as we find there are relative standards for each nation with the characteristics and attributes of beauty, which may change in different times for the same peoples, and some people may grow up – by virtue of their culture – to Different standards of beauty, the Greeks saw beauty in youth, and the Romans saw beauty in luxury, order and strength, and the Greek artist assumed that intelligence and reason lie in the consistency of dimensions, while Pythagoras defined beauty as the essence of the mechanism of numerical consistency that applies to the simplest and most complex phenomena. Akkad interpreted beauty as freedom of movement.
And in the ideas of Confucius, whenever harmony is achieved between the inside and the outside, the thing becomes beautiful. As if his conception of beauty does not deviate from his conception of the unity of existence based on eliminating the contradictions between good and evil, between pain and joy, and so on, which are reflected in all the spiritual philosophies of ancient China.
The beauty of music, for example – like the beauty of existence – lies in proportions and mathematical relations, just as the beauty of the universe lies in the delicate harmony between the movement of planets and stars. Art in Islamic civilization expressed an aesthetic value derived from geometric shapes and colors, and was an expression of a new spirit and philosophical mentality that had its own character.
Beauty is a kind of freedom in the conscience, and any sane thinker in the development of education must put the concept of beauty, as something that can be perceived, within the interests of the school and the educational institute. Because our job – as I said – has always been to build human capabilities, and rules must be set for him in the educational system that educates and prepares Egypt’s youth for the future.
Gentlemen, when the soul is torn apart, work is separated from pleasure, passion and inspiration are absent; Unity and harmony disintegrate, the need for beauty and its realization is greater and more important, and I do not mean by that the study of art for itself, despite its lofty goal, but rather I take it to broader goals, so that beauty is a means to restore the lost unity in society.
Let me, dear reader, take music as an example. Music is the most estranged art from practical goals. Because its means of influencing the human psyche does not serve purposes outside the scope of art, for it is not like – for example – like architecture that is used in building, and is useful in achieving other purposes, other than simply bringing about aesthetic delight, except that in its simple study it adopts the sense and knowledge of consistency and harmony, And it reaches the science of mathematics from the entrance of beauty and pleasure, and the skills of its practice are accuracy, proficiency, perseverance, and commitment. I do not look here at music in an abstract way, but rather as one of the foundations of education. The same applies to the word, photography, and other types of art. Each entry has a general benefit and another that is specific to its kind.
The human soul that tastes beauty is the soul capable of creativity and innovation, seeing what is beautiful, and building on it.
The nature of man, without the distortion that we do to him in family upbringing or the ugliness that sometimes surrounds him, or the educational or media climate that focuses on negatives and mistakes, the nature of this man is attracted by itself to everything that is beautiful, and it was reported from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Peace
“God is beautiful and loves beauty,” and the ability of the Creator, the Almighty, willed to make beauty – in its various forms – a source of human satisfaction and happiness. The palatability of beauty is a common right, a right for all, in which a person does not need to have a position or have power or money to enjoy it.
Dr. Zaki Naguib Mahmoud says: “The average person among the masses of people, if he knows in his current life how to differentiate between what is beautiful and what is ugly in the things that surround him, then this knowledge of him makes him a better person, who also differentiates between good and evil, because good is always beautiful.” “.
Beauty, like happiness, stems from a creative force capable of stimulating thought and contemplation, and opening the doors of faith and certainty. And if enjoying beauty is permissible, then it is also a gateway to the elevation of the spirit and taste, the transcendence of the soul, its salvation from deterioration and fall, and an engine for thought to wander beyond sensory manifestations only. Beauty – in fact, is not only one of the reasons for normal faith, and one of its elements, but rather it is one of its means, and aesthetic and artistic values in the word, expression, or behavior carry on their wings what deepens and strengthens this faith, and makes it a means of happiness and goodness in life.

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
