My happy thoughts on her birthday – Hossam Badrawi

My happy thoughts on her birthday
I wondered why I was optimistic despite the clouds around us
And why am I, in fact, a happy person? ‏
Today I decided to choose among the reasons for my optimism
One thing I talk about and I thank God for it. ‏
My daughter Dalia
The beautiful thing about Dalia is that she is a reason for our joy without effort
She is, by nature, the joy of my day
When I woke up and I heard her voice in the next room
She speaks passionately about her daughters
King Wahba and Sarah
She talks about her brother Hassan
Kian took pictures of his son
And about the age of her husband
And about her friends who were with her yesterday…
Just hearing her voice is like melodious music to me
I find myself smiling
I lay there for a few minutes, enjoying her presence, before I wake up and go out to her
To hold her head
And stroked her face
If she is standing, embrace her
The hormone oxytocin explodes from my brain and I feel happy and cheerful. ‏
My father, may God have mercy on him, used to tell us
Geography makes history
There is no doubt that Dalia and her beautiful family are geographically close to us
He made my father’s wisdom a reality that we live in. ‏
I have to give my wife the credit
It made Hassan and his family live in London
A daily presence in our lives
It was geography
I overcame geography
With its daily communication
Using all communication tools
It extended the threads of the family fabric to cohere made us live day by hour and integrated it into our lives daily.
It is very difficult
His maestro needs to insist on our positive presence in each other’s lives, laughing together and rejoicing.
We exchange knowledge
And love
I return to Dalia with my happy thoughts and remember the wisdom of Khalil Gibran, which he says about giving as if he were talking about Dalia:
“What you give has no value unless it is a part of yourself
Some give and do not know the meaning of pain in their giving.
They do not seek joy,
They do not wish to broadcast their virtues
These people give from what they have just as the basil gives its fragrant fragrance in that valley
Through such hands, God speaks
And through their eyes, he smiles on the ground.”
As for her daughters?
It is as if it is the foundation
The fulcrum column
And a mixture of love and sharing
And insist on taking each one
Her opportunity to grow her talents and abilities without pressure, but with stimulation and empowerment. ‏
What a mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend,
I do not see anything like it in its purity and integrity
And the beauty itself
And the joy she spreads around. ‏
On your birthday, Dalia
I tell you that I, as a father, am satisfied with you
But proud of you
And every year that passes, I see wisdom joining your qualities
I see the firmness of your principles
And the beauty of your hair
And I thank God
Your love for me is a blessing
Season’s greetings
Your father

About Dr. Hossam Badrawi

Dr. Hossam Badrawi
He is a politician, intellect, and prominent physician. He is the former head of the Gynecology Department, Faculty of Medicine Cairo University. He conducted his post graduate studies from 1979 till 1981 in the United States. He was elected as a member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Parliament from 2000 till 2005. As a politician, Dr. Hossam Badrawi was known for his independent stances. His integrity won the consensus of all people from various political trends. During the era of former president Hosni Mubarak he was called The Rationalist in the National Democratic Party NDP because his political calls and demands were consistent to a great extent with calls for political and democratic reform in Egypt. He was against extending the state of emergency and objected to the National Democratic Party's unilateral constitutional amendments during the January 25, 2011 revolution. He played a very important political role when he defended, from the very first beginning of the revolution, the demonstrators' right to call for their demands. He called on the government to listen and respond to their demands. Consequently and due to Dr. Badrawi's popularity, Mubarak appointed him as the NDP Secretary General thus replacing the members of the Bureau of the Commission. During that time, Dr. Badrawi expressed his political opinion to Mubarak that he had to step down. He had to resign from the party after 5 days of his appointment on February 10 when he declared his political disagreement with the political leadership in dealing with the demonstrators who called for handing the power to the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, from the very first moment his stance was clear by rejecting a religion-based state which he considered as aiming to limit the Egyptians down to one trend. He considered deposed president Mohamed Morsi's decision to bring back the People's Assembly as a reinforcement of the US-supported dictatorship. He was among the first to denounce the incursion of Morsi's authority over the judicial authority, condemning the Brotherhood militias' blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court. Dr. Hossam supported the Tamarod movement in its beginning and he declared that toppling the Brotherhood was a must and a pressing risk that had to be taken few months prior to the June 30 revolution and confirmed that the army would support the legitimacy given by the people
